Recent Prayer Requests from Africa, Latin America, and India

ARGENTINA
- Prayer is asked for Helmuth Kluge, Juan Carlos Weiss and José Luis Weiss, our missionaries to the Guaraní Indians. The work our brothers and sisters accomplish with love is no easy task.
- Leopoldo and Mabel Castro are in charge of training some 300 church workers and missionaries. Let us pray that these brothers and sisters may get good preparation for their missionary work.
- In our prayers, we include Pedro and Noemi Boretzky, who attend to seven mission stations among the Mapuche in Patagonia. They bring hope to many people without hope by taking the Gospel to them.
BOLIVIA
- We pray for the children in the Children’s Home “Moises” and for the leaders of the Home, Martín and Agustina Fernández.
- Please pray for good, partnership-oriented work with the Baptist Convention in Bolivia. Carlos Waldow and Arturo Köbernick will be there in June in order to make important decisions regarding future projects. We are taking aim at the city/region of “El Alto”, near La Paz. We pray for God’s guidance as to how we will be able to reach the people there for Jesus.
BRAZIL
- Pastor Odemar Rehfeld will step down as director of the Children’s Home in Ijuí after a blessed ministry of six years. A couple (pastors) have been asked to take over and we are waiting for their answer. We pray that God will send the right people.
- Please pray for the mission work among the people of Pomeranian origin in the State of Espírito Santo. Despite huge challenges, our brothers and sisters there do a very good job.
CAMEROON
- We pray for the families of Hanna and Dirk Pusch, Christel and Martin Pusch, Laurence and Hervé Turquais, Jutta and Emmanuel Krebs-Mbiene, Tabita and Dominique Azemar, and for Ursula Greuter. We especially pray for travelling mercies in Africa und also in Europe while they are on home furlough.
- Please pray for a balanced rainy season which is necessary for a good crop.
- Also pray for good spiritual impetus during the youth camps.
- Let us pray that for the leadership of our partner union UEBC in Cameroon, that they may be given wisdom, health and God’s rich blessings.
CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
- We pray for the upcoming elections in the country. They will be crucial for security in the country.
- We pray that God will bless the training courses Annabeth and Markus Maag are holding for church leaders and pastors.
- The illiteracy rate is very high also in the churches. In many places reading classes have been set up. We pray that the new beginners will hold out and that there may be a new longing to read God’s Word.
CUBA
Let us pray for the six MASA Projects in Cuba. These projects, launched last year, have been greatly blessed by the Lord, and we want to go on supporting them. These times are momentous for Jesus’ Church in Cuba. People are involved with courage and joy, and we are happy about many conversions. Our missionaries in Cuba are:
- Daniel and Ana Isabel Gonzalez – church-planting and Bible Clubs in Havana
- Karell and Raquel Lescaille – evangelism and church planting on the Isle of Youth
- Franck and Yudith San Juan – evangelism and church planting in the slums of Havana
- Marcos and Alicia Rivero – training of co-workers and missionaries planting churches in the region of Las Tunas
- Juan and Ana Iris Sanches – evangelism and church planting in the region of Zayas, Bahia Honda and Murillo.
EQUATORIAL GUINEA
- We pray for our missionaries López-Abellán and for continuation of their work.
- We pray that the small churches on site may be encouraged for their ministries and that they may be strengthened in their faith, also as a result of Sarah Marcos Velert’s ministry.
- Please pray for the schools, which are especially important in the churches; pray for the pupils, the students and the teachers there.
- Let us pray that national leaders may be appointed to the working parties and institutions of the Convention.
MALAWI
- We pray for our partner union, the Baptist Convention of Malawi. They will appoint new staff for various departments in coming months.
- Let us pray for the home missionaries Wisted Chipangula, Barnett Kachasu and Eliud Katandalira, who are supported by EBM, and especially for their evangelistic and church planting work.
- Let us also pray for fair distribution of seeds in the poor and economically underdeveloped regions.
MOZAMBIQUE
- We pray for good cooperation between the three volunteers, their mentors and the national staff workers.
- We pray for our missionaries, Isabel and Eduardo Melo, as well as for Szilvia Papp. The very high temperatures and humidity may mean heavy physical and emotional stress.
- In the new academic year, 14 new students have been admitted: We thank the Lord for them and pray for his blessing and for successful training.
PERU
- Please pray for Adrián Campero and the 30 missionaries, who are channelling MASA’s aid to many people who have been affected by the floods and landslides in the region of Cusco/Apurímac. More than 600 families have already been assisted. We also pray that these people may be reached by God’s love particularly in this situation of enormous distress.
- Please pray for Hugo Mondoñedo, who has again been working as a MASA missionary since early 2010 and who will found five mission churches in the Region of Jimbe.
PORTUGAL
- We go on praying for Pastor João Emanuel, the new director of the Children’s Home, and for his staff, as well as for the children and the young people who have found a home there. Let us also pray for the financial situation of this project. The deficit, which has been persistent for quite some time, is to be eliminated through structural and administrative changes.
SIERRA LEONE
- We pray for the home furlough of Hans-Willem and Aisha Oosterloo, asking for encouraging visits to the churches and to mission friends, and also for sufficient rest.
- Please pray for the ministry of Lisa and Daniel Meisinger, including the tasks Daniel is taking over from Hans-Willem during the latter’s home furlough.
- We pray for the Lord’s protection and blessings for the new home missionaries, Philip Kamara and Mohamed Dukuray (Baptist Convention); they will be commissioned to serve in Tonko Limba and Tambakha in April.
SOUTH AFRICA
- Give thanks to the Lord for granting to our missionary families, the Streckers and the Dichristins, the strength and wisdom they need to monitor the volunteers. Please go on praying for blessings on this work.
- We pray that the final preparations and the implementation of the evangelistic initiatives linked to the Football World Cup 2010 will come to a good end; Alex Strecker has been in charge.
EUROPE
- We pray for wisdom and clear findings in the ongoing process of placing volunteers in Latin America and Africa for 2010/2011.
- We pray for visa applications and entry clearance for the delegates to the Mission Council 2010, to be held 29/04-01/05 in Balatonszemes/Hungary. We pray for its organization and for good spiritual impetus.
INDIA
- Pray for the smooth integration of “Hans-Herter-Indienhilfe” into EBM and for good cooperation between the 14 different partners with their more than 50 projects in India. May we also find a Regional Representative in India.
- Pray for smooth construction and for a good start of the Children’s Home in Akkagaripeta, where 60 neglected children are to be given a new home (Dr. Voola, head of the Nellore Baptist Field Association). Please also pray for Rufus Kamalakar, leader of an association of 200 churches which is in charge of children’s homes, food distribution to the needy, and church-based social work.
- Pray for Lalaguda Baptist Church in Hyderabad. This church runs an orphanage, 5 pre-schools and a tailoring school, understanding all of these projects to be a Christian witness to society.
THANKING OUR LORD (ANSWERS TO PRAYER)
- For the positive impact of the PEPE Projects (Brazil), the missionary social work of churches to meet the needs of pre-school children;
- For the new churches being founded through the MASA Projects in Cuba;
- For the 40 MASA missionaries, who bear the main responsibility for the Projects in Latin America.
